Mystery Reader Daddy

Isaac's preschool offers a volunteer opportunity to read to the class once a week during library time.  They call it mystery reader because the kids never know if one of their parents, or grandparents will be there or if their teacher will be reading the stories.  A couple of months ago Seth asked me what he needed to do in order to read to the class...I said,"3 hour training...and background check.  Seth has completed both so he signed up for this exciting opportunity.  Isaac was both shocked and excited to have his daddy there.  Addy and I stuck around to see the reaction and Addy spent her time socializing with Isaac's friends and found herself right at home on the rug.  Both Seth and Isaac enjoyed this very special experience.

Addy went and sat right down by Isaac

Isaac sitting by his two best friends Blake and Brady and Addy putting her fingers in her mouth like her big brother.  Addy socialized with all the boys and gave Isaac a big kiss.

Easter Egg Hunt

Isaac couldn't wait for Saturday to come so he could go to the Easter Bunny's house and go on an Easter Egg hunt.  It is so cute that not only does he remember it from last year, but he thinks the Easter Bunny leaves in our cities community gym.  LOL... Maplewood does a great job with an Easter filled morning for the kids.  They open up the gym for the kids to play, jump house, breakfast treats, crafts, coloring, prizes and of course the egg hunt.  Both kids had a great time doing ALL of the activities and Isaac of course had the most fun on the egg hunt.  He also LOVED opening all the eggs to see his prizes when he got home!  It was a great morning.

chalk board

We now have a chalkboard downstairs for the kids to draw and color on...thanks to Seth's hard work.  We learned a very important lesson about spray painting in the house...but the end result turned out great!!  We are very thrilled for this new activity for the kids...Isaac asks all the time to spell words, practice his numbers and letters.  Which is huge...he is not a big fan of writing!  Anything to spark some interest.
The first time they got to color on it

Isaac wrote his name right away

Then he wrote MOM

All finished with the wood trim.  Thanks Seth!!!

IHOP breakfast

We are not huge IHOP fans by any means but we had a coupon and needed breakfast so this is where we ended up.  The kids enjoyed their first IHOP experience A LOT!  After this we might have to become IHOP fans!

she spent some time opening sugar packets and adding it to her plate

The finished pancake...there was no wonder he didn't want lunch.

Easter creations

Sticking with our theme this year, we did a bunch of Easter creations with our finger, hand and feet prints.  As usual...there was no time for taking pictures during these creations.  You can imagine why...little yellow feet and white hands everywhere.  We did the painting one day and then Isaac and I did the decorating while Addy took her rest the next day.  It worked out perfectly.  Isaac glued all the eyes on himself, and cut out the body of the big chick all by himself.  He loves to do these special projects and I do too.  Thanks pinterest for the Easter art project ideas!!
All clean after their baths to wash all the paint off...Addy got dressed all by herself.

4 Today...dating tomorrow

I think the title of this blog sums up my feelings for today, my little boy is growing up so fast.  This is out of my control and I don't like it.  Just in the past month he has grown up so much and he too notices it.  That in itself is something to be proud of.  He has been asking us for a way to mark how much he is growing. Just pushed that to the top of the project list tonight.  He LOVES and is so proud of how big he is and of course thinks he is big enough to do anything.  Luckily we are not quite there yet.

Two of the best examples of growth come directly from his friends and interactions at school.  Lately, he has been having friends over right from school.  He will tell you how much he loves his friends, why he loves them and who his best friends are.  He even went to his first big boy birthday party.  He no longer needs me at playdates, he feels completely comfortable with other kids' moms and at drop off at school he just runs into the room and is playing before I can even try to say goodbye.  I am so happy he has such GREAT friends at school.  He of course is very focused on the boys in his class, who play star wars amongst other things with him.

They actually discuss the movie...it is so cute!

There is also a little girl at school who has quite the crush on Isaac.  It is adorable.  Today she gave Isaac a picture that her mom said she spent the whole week making.  Talking about how fun it is going to be to give it to Isaac and how much he will like it, etc.  I think it is so cute, and Isaac of course knows who she is, says she is nice, but he prefers to play star wars.  I prefer boys he says, I like boys.
Today when he got home from school, after lunch he decided he would color some pictures for this little girl.  Notice the coloring ability difference in a girl/boy his age.  Isaac of course colored her four pictures in no time...wrote his name and her name on them and said he was done.  He told me to put them on the fridge until school and then he would bring them to Addison.  It is as if they are going to be pen pals, via pictures.  SO ADORABLE!
picture from Addison...I can't believe how good she is at staying in the lines

Isaac wanted to color her some super hero pictures

He said he didn't know how to make all the letters in Addison and since he can write Addy's name we just decided to shorten her name too.
