Valentines 2013

We have been overall so healthy this winter and you might know that when there is an extra special day at school Isaac would get sick.  Isaac missed his valentines day party at school, but since I was already scheduled to volunteer I went and took his valentines that he worked so hard on.  He was so excited to receive his big bag of cards, and candy from all of his friends when I got home.

We spent our day playing with our new valentine toys, and going to the dr.  Isaac decided it would be nice to take his Dr. a valentine.  He decorated the Dr. a very nice card and wanted me to write,"Dear Dr. Tom, This heart is for you.  Thank you for making me better. Love Isaac."  It was so sweet, the Dr. loved it and spent a lot of time talking to Isaac about his cars that he brought along.

We also made a special dinner...with special valentine treats!  It was a great day, despite the ear infections, coughs, and colds :(

Both of their hand/foot print valentines art projects

Frozen Paint/Ivory exploision

On a cold afternoon not too long ago we decided we needed a little bit more excitement than a regular play day.  I decided to do a frozen paint activity that I saw online somewhere.  Isaac and I started the activity while Addy was sleeping and then she joined in on the fun.  I will let the pictures tell the story of the afternoon.
freeze the paint in ice cube trays

He decided to paint his hand

then make hand prints

making a masterpiece

he also made a telescope to see things better with

Addy getting in on the action
When it was time to clean up, I decided to do it a little bit fun and show the kids what happens when you microwave ivory soap.  We needed soap anyways to clean up our mess so why not add a little bit of science and fun to it.

When you microwave Ivory soap it explodes

Turns into a very dry paper

The kids both wanted to add water to their buckets

so smart, because then I didn't have to scrub hands clean.  They both then washed many many cars in the buckets.  Genius again, since those cars are full of germs.

a couple of the masterpieces

Isaac made this portrait of himself and made the letter I all by himself.  he called it "Isaac the monster"

All in all it was a GREAT time for the kids to do some art work....learn a little about science while cleaning up.  They enjoyed playing in the soapy water just as long as they liked painting.  Clean up was a breeze since they cleaned themselves while playing :)

Always together

So it continues....Wherever, whatever Isaac is doing Addy is right there.  Addy spends most of her day as close to Isaac as possible.  She looks up to him and Isaac enjoys being the big brother very much.  Lately, he has taken to explaining and telling Addy things in the exact words he hears me say.  He protects her always...while they still have plenty of sharing fits.  I am excited to see their relationship continue to grow!
They LOVE pretending to trick or treat.  Sitting with their treats

Addy always climbs on Isaac

He LOVES it

she is bouncing on him, and he pushes her up.  Look at her hair go in the motion,

Play outside

Finally warm enough to play outside last week.  Isaac LOVES playing in the snow....Addy LOVES having me carry her through the snow.  Isaac didn't like it at her age either, but none the less it makes the trips outside short.  Being so warm they had more fun in the puddles than in the snow.
Really Mom, you want me to walk in this.

Addy sleeping

Isaac used to sleep in the strangest positions.  Sitting up, half in the crib half out, with his head in between his legs, etc.  Addy not so much.  She usually sleeps on her tummy, well this is the first time I saw her switch things up and try an Isaac position.
so sleepy

Snow Sculptures

Not many pictures of these amazing sculptures but the state fair grounds was home to the St Paul winter carvinal snow sculptures this year.  They also had a snow maze that the kids thought was pretty cool....but of course it was more like a skating rink through the maze.  We were not there very long, it was just me and the kids but we walked around....looked at them all and took a couple of pictures.  Isaac was pretty impressed by some.  His favorites were the dragon and castle ones.
piano teacher and student (this was my favorite)

Youc an't tell from the picture but this was a puzzle with puzzle pieces. Isaac Loved this one too, because he loves doing puzzles

Chore Charts are working

This winter I have decided to teach Isaac about chores...simple tasks, that he is old enough to do.  I wanted to teach him to take care of his toys, house and himself.  To take pride in where he lives, and that it is not just Mommy's job.  Well...it is working.  We are now to the point where he asks to do his chores.  I might add there is also no reward other than moving his badge to the done side, and the pride that he did it!  And , I will say he is proud!  Baby of course follows his lead and is always a great help.
I made her a chore chart too, because I knew if I didn't make it with Isaac's it might not ever happen. It is a good thing I did because she enjoys moving her pieces just as much as Isaac does.

Isaac saw this pan in the sink and asked to wash it.

After he picked up his toys...I said why don't oyu try to vaccuum. He said," I don't have a badge that says that." He tried anyways.

Isaac needed to wipe up a spill on the window ledge.  First he decided to play a little splish, splash , splosh with his cars.  I am not against cleaning whiling playing.
all the cars had to go through the puddles first

Just awesome!  he wiped it up when he was done.
